I've been suffering from migraines since I was a teen, and up until about 5 years ago, took nothing but Tylenol to try and ease the pain. Then, my Dr. finally gave me Maxalt, which helped a TON, but after a year of being on the highest dose, it wasn't working anymore. Then he gave me Imitrex, and I've been on that for about a year. It helps, but it takes awhile to kick in, and it is SO darn expensive!! It's sad when I have to wait until the last minute to decide whether or not to take a pill, to know for sure I really cannot function before taking it. I get migraines at LEAST 4-5 times a month, so the meds are gone quick! And my insurance covers 9 pills a month, then I have to pay $20 a pill!
Oh and the best part?! I'm allergic to aspirin AND Ibuprofen, so no Excedrin Migraine, which I hear works well, or Advil with a cup of coffee for me! I've been staying in a dark, quiet room and praying that my meds will work, that's my remedy right now.
So, I'm looking for ideas, suggestions, basically, any help I can get on how to deal with and treat these migraines. I do know that I will get one a few days before my period, 1-2 during, and almost always 1 afterwards. I'm all for doing home remedies, the cheaper the better, and I'll try pretty much anything that is thrown my way, I'm desperate!
The worst part is they don't just come and go, they can last for days! 3 days of a migraine is pure hell on me, AND my family! The kids need their momma, so please, help this Momma out!

My husband does also and they are so bad. We found Excedrin Migraine works for him, but I'm sure that would be on your allergy list ;( so I'm not much help.
that was suppose to be sorry I'm not much help.
I suffer from migrains also and get them the same times that you do and I hate them! My friend recommended Midrin(prescription) to me. I need to talk to my doctor about it. Maybe it will help you also.
